Sometimes I wish the ethos of Farcaster were way more connected to the reality of crypto, which in the USA is currently quite tumultuous and volatile, rather than always exhibiting the rah-rah happy go-lucky disposition of the founders / tech optimists that congregate here, which can be tiresome and disingenuous.

So what I think you’re seeing is casters focusing on users - specifically their own users. The strange thing about FC builders is we’re all on our 2, 3, or 5th+ startup It’s not a bunch of naive 1st timers, it’s brutally rational people celebrating wins because most startups die by suicide, not homicide.

I’m skeptical anyone can objectively assess the reality of crypto, or anything really that has global reach. I think I can understand your annoyance that perception here doesn’t match your perception of reality but don’t think the answer is we need more pessimism

Do you mean the overall vibe here is like we’re living in bubble of positivity?

In my Farcaster bubble I see a bit of both: optimism about building on crypto protocols & pessimism, disillusionment & disappointment about the state of most of the industry For me, the latter is a motivating factor. I think most ppl want the tech and industry participants to keep changing / evolving for the better

Agree on the state of things. It’s hard to overstate just how much crypto is disfavored by almost all vcs and public market investors, and disliked by people outside of the niche. I would imagine 9/10 of people on the street think crypto =scam instead of crypto = freedom.

Disagree. Positivity is fuel. Tactical discussions are kind of bullshit in practice in a public form since they’re so specific and internal. Oasis of positivity does much more good in the long run. Also with @timdaub.eth need to not be US centric. Other countries get great value from crypto already. Let them lead future.

Focus on the mistakes regulators are or aren’t making is a red herring. The bureaucrats are, seemingly, getting ahead of crypto, how? They aren’t more nimble than founders. This is a tell. Never should the system move faster than us, if they are, we’re doing something wrong. Focus on real user value, ship it
