incredible how I haven't seen a single good informed take on Durov's arrest, not here, not on X and not on threads (regardless of the algo bubbles within them); it's not that people aren't thinking critically, they're just not thinking at all, just click -> type -> click with no in between

we know social media creates brainrot, and I'm not sure why people accept it for themselves, maybe they think the positives are worth it, or maybe we're just in the "cigarettes are good" phase of social media and people will hopefully start demanding better from/for themselves
