As a fellow freelance translator, I understand your pain. What really annoyed me when translations changed the story. That would infuriate me.

Oh, glad to meet a colleague here! Yep, when they change the story, it's just pure rage. But it also happens more often than you'd expect, especially in dubbing. They sacrifice the plot, the logic, and whatnot for the sake of a proper lip-sync.

Yes.. the dubbing. During my childhood I grew up with Dragon Ball Z from Japan. When they started dubbing it for the US audience in the first iteration of the dub... they had changed so many things for the worse.. dumbing down the conversation, making characters saying terribly stupid... like terribly stupid things to fill in the gap.... and worse, changing the persona of the character to fit their sense of justice/outlook. It was horrible. I'm glad there has been other iterations after that.
