I've been researching various Web3-based social products recently, and I keep encountering the invite code model, which I find to be a very unpleasant marketing strategy. Just as I'm starting to get interested and drawn into a project, I'm put off by the requirement of having to provide an invite code. Where has the open Web3 ecosystem gone, and why are projects adopting such a closed, high-pressure marketing system? It's disappointing.
