ETH is the native money of the Ethereum ecosystem. Unlike BTC, ETH has it's OWN financial system built around it. Its network effect is so big that it even influences other networks to build using the Ethereum Virtual Machine. There is NO second best.

This does seem to be the case, and quite far from a good model of the governance process imo. Tune in to a few ACDs, read the R&D discord, if you're adventurous watch a breakout call or two, and you'll see that client teams (all but Geth not at the EF) very much have a voice
