The circle and triangle extend a little above (and below for the circle) the cap height to make them appear as tall as the square.

Only thing I can tell is the circle and triangle are over the lines. Is that the thingy?

You've tried. It's more optically than technically

Distance in horizontal plane vs distance between parallel lines. But I'm not a designer at all =)

A good designer pushes for optical balance against technical balance. Look at the tip of the triangle one more last time. You will see it. Also the circle is made a bit bigger to bring in perfect symmetry.

Good designer takes into account shape of an object, not only absolute width and height.

This is always a good point. Optical balance or 'getting a good feel for it', it's so important. Takes a minute to master it, tho
