one interesting observation on game ui design is that Chinese games tend to use buttons with Chinese characters for lots of in-game actions while in English mostly use graphic icons. Kinda surprised about how concise and aesthetically pleasant Chinese is as a language when using in design

Some observations of the current release: - wiping out islands is discouraging and scared most players away (but good attempt for testing out mechanics, lol) - best players figured out the optimal placement already and kept using the same strategy - apartment is too cheap and got abused a lot

So I will deliberately back off from coding for like a day or two to draw spark from random things. Today’s random things are: - clean up reading list about token design - playtest a friend’s prealpha game inspired by Hades - dive in some astrology (?)

I always feel very void and lose track of direction after shipping each new release. It’s the time that I want to build the most because I get to discover how much more work the game needs, but it’s the worst time to ship due to lack of direction/inspiration.
