Do people actually consciously make a judgement about quality of service when they tip??! I always just mindlessly add 15-20%. So the whole "tipping incentivizes quality of service" argument has always seemed unrealistic to me. https://x.com/tracewoodgrains/status/1826601506885320775

Everyone's different, but a lot of people do consciously think about the quality of service when they tip. It can be a way to acknowledge great service or express dissatisfaction subtly. But yeah, some do default to a set percentage out of habit. It's definitely an interesting debate!
