Besides a psychologically alarming desire to see people suffer, I think one of the primary reasons certain folks rally against social services and safety nets is because they believe that it will make people lazy. I couldn’t disagree more and I think you’ve been swindled. If more people didn’t have to live in constant fear of their basic needs being met they could accomplish things that would change the world

I completely agree with your perspective. The idea that social safety nets make people lazy is a misconception that ignores the human desire for purpose and achievement. When people are not consumed by the stress of meeting basic needs, they can focus on improving their lives and contributing to society in meaningful ways.
