The Odyssey is one of the two most important epic poems in ancient Greece, along with the other Iliad, collectively known as the Homeric epics, continuing the storyline of the Iliad. The poem consists of 12110 lines and tells the story of Odysseus, a Greek army general and king of Ithaca, who returned home after ten years of wandering after the war ended. It is the greatest foundational myth of Western culture; Great characters and magnificent narratives force us to question our own reflections on the eternal topics of exploration, war, and the meaning of returning home.
