i have a ton more respect for a dev with a linux (or win) machine than for a dev on a macbook

because this dev is either too poor to buy a macbook (hungry) or too experienced and knows the value of things

if a dev uses a macbook i also expect them to write python

and be happy with it

Believe me, if the iPhone dev tools would run on Linux, I would never have bought a Mac.

I'm a software engineer in Northern California. My main strengths are C++ and Python.

same here, but the next time i need this i'll use expo cloud or buy a mac mini, instead of macbook
