Heading to the Montreux Jazz Festival always feels like returning to my inner music—Mecca. Since I was a little girl growing up nearby, a walk for a sweet blue-schtroumpfs—ice cream always meant strolling to Montreux’s lakeside and its air full of music legends' imprint. It’s like all the voices singing my soundtrack whisper in my ears when I’m there.

The shore is paved with statues of these legends, bright flowers, and art. When Summer comes, and the festival invades the space, a melting pot of music, food, and a makers’ market reshapes the peaceful vibe into a colorful, pulsing one.

Following 2024’s new temporary setup, 2025’s edition will lay a stage on Leman Lake, rewind to its early days with shows at the Casino, and deliver a kick-ass menu that’ll conquer a good bunch of music lovers.

Our cloud couldn’t stop smiling when it met the names of the first-class voices of their respective genres on the menu of this Summer’s program. The opening night will set the tone: Chaka Khan will open the festival with a double concert. One will celebrate her 50-year career, the other the legacy of Quincy Jones. The Jazz might not be at the Montreux Jazz Festival every night on every stage, but its DNA hits hard when it pops up.

Legends Diana Ross and Dianne Reeves will also hold voices’ foundations as the new generation takes the mic: Samara Joy, her impressive rendition of classic vocal jazz, and Raye’s contemporary exploration (remember vol.3?). Jorja Smith and Celeste's vibrant fusion of everything jazz birthed, or Leon Thomas’, to name only a very few of the endless list of music events planned during the 2-weeks festival.
