As a kid, I never understood why I had to go to school at 7am. That schedule ruined my sleep for many years. Why do we, as a society, force kids to wake up so early when most jobs start at 9am?

kids don't make the rules, parents do probably the school should start 1 hour before most of the jobs in the area start, so parents have time to bring the kids to school, do admin etc

Never thought about it that way. I went to secondary school in London and it was a 9:00 am start -- when I came to California for High School, classes started at 7:30 am -- while I didn't mind as much (just being in SoCal was the dream), I def witnessed many sleep deprived zombies
