Had an amazing lunch in a Syrian restaurant, food was so rich in textures and combinations of flavours. Then on the drive home saw an advert for burger king. This made me think that US empire collapse will actually be net benefit for humanity and give room for authentic civilisations to flourish. Diversity just like markets always win. At this stage US empire does feel like one giant too big to fail psyop. Anyhow wish transition won’t be too turbulent, when Soviet Union collapsed it was nasty and we still have civil wars happening to this day

US culture should be recognised as: a: valid coherent culture just like Syrian b: uniquely immature.. 200 years ago USA was independent and its people had no culture; far less cultural context to guide its later development The fact that indie restaurants have better food than KFC is no indictment on Pax Americana

Fall of the Soviet Union feels like a best case scenario honestly, not a single nuke went off

I love Syrian food, but in all other respects Syria seems like a very comparison to make here
