inb4 ”the ui/ux is not good enough yet to make people switch to web3 social” > would you choose to live in a literal digital prison and pay rent just because the walls are painted nice? lets be free frens 🦾 the tech will improve

It’s not even that the walls need work It’s a pure network effect game, the biggest challenge for latent social networks is that when they do get their shot, can they handle the load Most cannot so stumble on the actual moment that matters when a mass organic migration would happen Like a swarm of bees once the old hive can’t support them anymore, they will just cruise around until they can find a new home (or die out trying)

but yeah agree that scaling is the biggest issue and probably why no one has nailed it yet

very valid point sure network effects are important, but they’ve always been one sided in web2 social > profits for the platform, scraps for the users. for me it’s not just about scaling another social app but setting a foot down and flipping the script with decentralized socials I think network effects can be reached even earlier as the difference is that users also gain value through > ownership > transparency > data control > monetization rather than just forever feeding into the platform’s profits just for you to be banned one day and lose all your connections and those ”network effects”
