I have some experience with home care workers from earlier this year having hired them to help with my mother in the months immediately following a nerve disorder, and looking ahead to my own old age, and wondering who, if anyone, will do for me what I do what I continue to do for my mother on a daily basis, I’m doubtful that I’ll want or be able to afford a full time home care worker. A humanoid robot, if it’s no more expensive than, say, a car, might be the preferred option.
That said, I don’t want a simulacrum that pretends to be real, but I do want something that can help me up if I fall, cook meals if necessary, and help me in the shower.
The human form is incredibly versatile and efficient. I’d take a humanoid robot over, say, some weird radial spider/crab type thing. 0 reply
