how bad is the migrants situation in Europe? London, Paris, Amsterdam, etc need reports from people who live there now i can't ignore all the crime reports but also don't want to overstate the issue (esp. with multiple elections coming up and right wing candidates boosting propaganda budgets) do you feel safe there

i.e. can you let your wife or children walk alone at night or take uber without any fear that they can be harmed? if not, could you 5y ago? i.e. did the situation worsen?

In German medium-sized cities and larger, the situation is bad. Even in some smaller villages. The perception and reality of safety is drastically worse when compared to 2010. I will not live here long-term with my family.

At its peak riots Paris was still safer than an average day in Chicago.

Madrid is super safe although the municipality has an insane obsession with spending all the budget on private security contractors. In the Netherlands, there's been a steady influx of migrants, many are left in camps and prohibited from participating in society (no rights). Worse for the migrants than citizens imo.

Depends on Benchmark. Eastern European cities are generally safer.

Speaking for Hamburg: Nothing really changed in the past 10 years. For smaller cities in northern Germany, you can notice migrant influx but mostly because those were not multicultural places to start, not because of any crime wave. Perception is different though which is where right-wing political rhetoric comes in.

Paris was perfectly fine, at least in the 6th and 7th. I'm told other arrondissements are different. Coming from SF though, everything seems utopic.

Lived in London until recently. Work hours meant I was regularly taking public transport/walking home late at night. Did see someone get mugged by two guys on a moped but never once felt unsafe myself. It has always been a very multicultural city but that was one of main reasons I liked it so much.

Feel very safe in Europe. Big cities all over Europe are very safe. It's not the migrants that make cities dangerous. Migrants are also victims of capitalism / globalism looking for a better life. Expand your scope : expand your mind

Smaller city compared to those, but went to Lisbon for a weekend a few weeks ago - it was a shock. I didn't feel unsafe, but it also did not feel like I was in Portugal. It wasn't like that a few years ago.
