ga farcaster if you can't destroy something, you don't actually own it do you agree? do you disagree? why? what does this change? e.g. if you can't delete data from a decentralized social network do you actually own the data?

I consider ownership a number of rights you are granted and it changes depending on context. You own a house but you are not free to burn it. You own a piece of land but you are not free to build anything you want on it. You own a car but you are not free to drive it any way you like.

„abusus“ is just one right of ownership. Others are - „usus“ use and license - right to gain from use „usus fructus“ - right to sell/collateralize - right to privacy

Ownership means diff things in diff contexts On a network, you likely don’t “own” the data but you own rights to it Same with a song or patent — you don’t own the idea, just exclusive rights to use it certain way

There is always the case of malicious use of destruction - where someone wants something gone because they didn't want something to be known in the first place. Technically even with blockchain addresses, there is no 'destruction'. Just eh ability to opt out.

agreed - i think "ownership" is used a lot in web3, but i feel like, true ownership requires the ability to delete data from a platform, as well as transfer it to another

Agree. In law ownership is a basket of rights. This is one of them.
