prob have to stop writing all these ad-hoc casts about zora and publish a proper article. imo no doubt the protocol is the most powerful nft publishing tool to-date, but: 1) the protocol mechanics are misunderstood by creators 2) the app is at odds w/ the protocol and creators 3) damaged brand equity w/ creators

Agreed! Think a longer form explanation would help tbh

problem is that zora is more wrong than creators are. yes, i think there are some misunderstandings on how the protocol works, but UX is a wider gap. so anything i'd write would be directed more toward zora than creators, and that's been a losing battle. they're very stubborn. maybe it's vc dollars, idk

my guess would for sure be bc of vc $, that's the business model of blockchains. it's about maximizing transactions (blockspace), not maximizing user profit/valuation. I think that's where they lost the artists. it's meant to be a web2 post replacement, which is totally fine, but it is against their previously rep'd ethos imo

@tinyrainboot made a great point about how the free mint meta feels stockholmish, but the same is true if not worse re: the artificial scarcity meta. just look at /superrare. i don't see people posting about [sales] here, i see people farming tips. the irony. i'd argue that in a digital environment, maximizing transactions is the path to maximizing potential value for creators. the condition is that quality creation and curation are incentivized properly. while incentives drive behaviors, ux facilitates them; it's certain that ig isn't the right ux for quality creation or curation.
