How do you use writing to improve attention or deal with information overload?

Could be related to note-taking, journaling, newsletters, replies… I’m curious to hear of any way that you’ve found writing to be beneficial for mental well-being in this modern attention economy ✨

Writing helps me make sense of the world & my place in it 📝 

I write a newsletter based on emerging technology & what it means to be human. Taking the time to synthesize many complex and current topics helps me make sense of the world by forging clarity from the chaos. Example: attention economy, algorithms, & echo chambers/reality tunnels linked 👇 

I also use journalling to boost Metacognition (thinking about thinking) to identity patterns of thoughts in my life. 

I use note-taking to capture elements of my experience, both from the sources of others’ information and of my actual experiences (travel, events, conversations, etc)

Together, these uses of words help reduce a feeling of overwhelm & anxiety that’s often present in modern society. Writing helps me see both the bigger picture & my own personalized perspective, forming a core element of my daily actions ✍️
