This is not for art, this is for content aka “cointent” Might finally be the separation of the two

But they tout them all together. And, we already saw that tokenizing "content" got very little reception or interest (eg. Jam). Why not just tip creators and artists? Why not find other mechanisms to support them? This is all pushing the trading / coin meta which is just not the fit IMO. Also Zora used to be about the art, so this shift to me says it's not anymore.

I’m with you! Trying to understand the shift from a paradigm level, has taken up my whole day lol The general vibe I’m picking up is that Zora is not for art anymore. Their x bio says “coin your content”, Jacob was saying “cointent”, so I think (optimistically) that we’re seeing “posts” become tokenized, rather than the underlying asset being created to represent “art”. I think Zora gave up on art because there’s no money in infrequent transaction fees, but social posting happens billions of times a day

1000%. They are not for the art anymore, and I find it disappointing that they havent giving this some optionality. ie. you have the option to mint as a "coin" or as a normal edition as we have previously. Another "thanks but we can't make enough money off you" to the artists.

Yeah for sure. Tbh, I’ve felt this way since they unilaterally modified the contracts to control supply & duration. That loss of control was, to me, a sign that they were here for content, not art. But, looking at it from the other side, could you see this paradigm working for the promotion of art, art that is minted elsewhere (eg manifold) in a way that you control all elements of the supply, distribution, and provenance?

I dont know to be honest. I think all of the uber financialization and tokenization etc just makes me want to move further and further away from it. I suppose there could be an interesting usecase or mechanism for something like if people purchased a certain percent of the supply they could have whitelist to something etc etc. but we already had that possibility with editions.
