There's an argument that "insurance" is predicated on a scam. The industry is sustained by intentional misrepresentation of risk.

A scam adjacent industry built upon "responsible" gambling. The gambling isn't the scam; it's how the industry is marketed and the rubes it tricks. Kansas will pay for Florida.

Yea I’d agree with that argument in some cases. I think it’s usually better to be cautious when it comes to risk/health. But the presentation of those risks are often not with the interest of consumers in mind
