So, I will have to "translate" the tx data and see the additional call data, right? It's weird that this is not already packaged in a more user-friendly way. A payment with the invoice number. A tip with a short message. 

It could be a nice frame: 
- Enter amount, message, tx signing when you send
- Enter tx hash to see message, when you receive.

You can append arbitrary data to the call data, which will be ignored during execution

Rabby wallet. There are a dozen others but it's the simplest.

This exists through calldata, and already pretty integrated. Etherscan let’s you decode UTF8 and see the message in ascii text. 

Funny enough this is how a lot of the communication is done with black hats to try and get funds back and there’s even messaging protocols built on this infra
