It seems that Trump just "promised on Sunday to delay implementation of the law and allow more time for a deal to be made". As a US citizen, how do you feel about this? Do you still believe that laws are important, and that the Constitution grants you freedoms? Would you do business in an other country, where the president can do whatever he likes, and maybe favor you, maybe destroy you, regardless of laws? Genuinely curious.

imo it's a pretty tough climate in the US right now. The aftermath of covid and corporations taking advantage of the situation has left a pretty intense rip in class separation. Many people are struggling to pay rent and buy groceries, and many have identified the reason Trump won the middle votes was because he identified those struggles and gave a reason/solution to the issue. Even if that reason was false, he at least identified that class and made them feel seen. The left made zero efforts and basically just ignored the majority of Americans who are struggling. Because of that rift and the current economic state, I think people are tired and think less about what's happening in DC. People are offered money to do dances on TikTok and when the chips are down they're not gonna care about their data or their privacy. The events of Mangione and United Healthcare I think truly revealed the class separation happening, and Biden observed this too in his farewell speech.

Laws and constitutional freedoms are fundamental; governance should prioritize accountability and fairness over personal discretion.
