Saudi Arabia is set to step beyond investing in Japanese gaming and entertainment companies and become more of a collaborative partner, Nikkei has learned, a strategic shift intended to help leverage intellectual property across the Middle East. The kingdom's Public Investment Fund will take the first step in this direction as early as next year by transferring all its game-related stocks to its Savvy Games Group business subsidiary, a Savvy representative said.

Video game commerce platform Xsolla has partnered with the Savvy Games Group to create a game development academy in Saudi Arabia to "create economic opportunities" for Middle Eastern developers. By extension, this deal puts Xsolla in the bed with the country's state-owned Public Investment Fund, whose crown prince and prime minister Mohammad bin Salman was linked to the death of journalist Jamal Khashoggi. Under the Savvy deal, Xsolla promises to help create 3,600 new jobs by the end of 2030. Several "key" initiatives will be launched, including incubator and accelerator programs, industry events, and funding for development projects.

Tucked within the lush, tropical Sierra Nevada de Santa Marta mountain range, Colombia's Ciudad Perdida ( or “Lost City”) is among the great ancient ruins in South America. There's no easy way to reach Ciudad Perdida; visiting this hidden settlement demands a four-day mountain trek with numerous river crossings. The payoff is well worth it: Just a few dozen intrepid travelers reach this expansive site with its terraced hillsides and circular plazas every day, meaning you'll get to enjoy it almost uninterrupted. Only a handful of Santa Marta-based tour operators are certified to guide visitors to the site, still cared for by the descendants of the Tairona people who built the settlement centuries ago.

Zhangye Danxia Geopark, China Geology lovers and avid Instagrammers alike will be drawn to the otherworldly hues of the Rainbow Mountains. The colours were formed by the layering of sedimentary mineral deposits over millions of years, but it's hard to look at the flowing reds, yellows, and oranges and not feel like you're witnessing magic.

Activision will soon let players install different parts of Call of Duty games separately to combat colossal file sizes ahead of the release of Black Ops 6. Call of Duty, with its various evolving modes like Multiplayer and Zombies alongside yearly releases on top of separate games like Warzone, has gotten a bit messy and, dare we say, chunky in recent years. Black Ops 6 gained attention when players thought it required around 300GB of download space to install, and while this turned out not to be true, it created such a reaction because it was somewhat believable. Changes will be rolled out in a number of updates in the coming months, in anticipation of Black Ops 6's launch on October 25, 2024. They aim to offer a streamlined interface, direct access to games, more control of downloads, and expanded streaming technology to reduce file sizes.
