One of the biggest censorship vectors for blockchain protocols is RPC / lack of light clients. This is solved by more P2P-ish data transfer (eg IPFS, Farcaster Hubs, ATProtocol PDS), but this is also a UX barrier: running servers on phones, at home, etc is hard and potentially pricey.

Where arweave stands in this in your opinion?

Arweave is more directly comparable to Filecoin (blockchain consensus + data storage). It’s worse — you can’t use it offline or local only, only used through gateways. IPFS big strength is that it’s a self verifying data structure that can be run locally, passed around offline, and layered over other transports.
