No shade towards the Network School but it was announced one month away, that probably excludes 95% of potential applicants. Over indexes those who can drop everything and travel to a remote island, independently wealthy types. By design?

@balajis.eth mentions Indian engineers, African coders, Chinese liberals and Latin American libertarians. Can these folks drop their jobs for an eight week sabbatical? One month out?

Hey! Latin American here (I live in Brazil), I was accepted and I'm going, so I wanted to give my perspective on it. I'm not dropping my "job", by any means. I work remotely and will continue to do so (he mentions how the ideal applicant is someone who's able to work remotely or has enough savings to cover expenses, so I don't see a problem there). I never interpreted it as a "sabbatical", he specifically mentions how people who need to focus on their day jobs during the week will be able to do so (check the full announcement). One month out really makes things more difficult, I'm paying at least $2k for plane tickets, plus $3k for accommodation if I stay there for the full three months. I'm NOT wealthy, in fact this is a super risky move for me, but I'm willing to take the risk for what I think could be a once in a lifetime very cool opportunity (?) I'm a little anxious about the whole thing, for sure. But I'm also super excited! :)
