Sorry, but no. Crypto people claimed the right to butcher the word "inflation" first, and we already decided that it now just means "increase in the total supply of a currency". https://x.com/axios/status/1794737808269070432

And Bitcoiners butchered deflation to mean “not increasing any further, starting in about a century, and maybe losing the occasional seed phrase on a boating accident”

cognitive distortion at its finest obfuscation is how power is maintained hence why transparency for the powerful, privacy for the weak is such a strong and important concept when creating a more equitable system

But they don’t want the common person to know that the reason prices are so high, is because their supply increases made the dollar less valuable.

"Inflation is a gradual loss of purchasing power, reflected in a broad rise in prices for goods and services over time" - Investopedia Even with a fixed money supply, an increased demand for scarce goods and services would indeed be inflationary.

i feel this is a bit disconnected from normal people and the non-increase in pay they’ve faced during an increase in money supply. just high prices to them

Inflation is rate of increase for most useful items for livelihood. Increasing currency supply affects but if you print money to pay foreign debt should not affect local prices.

Rising asset prices due to m2 growth is currency debasement, not inflation. Simply divide by Fed balance sheet to normalize. True inflation is rising consumer prices, including energy and housing, and without all the little adjustment tricks governments play over the years

Disinflation is the goat right now. “Guys things are great.. price (increases) are actually coming down. Yeah no prices aren’t coming down.. those are still going up … just slower than they were” High five. Go us. Recessions avoided. Economy running so hot right now.

Why are we claiming the word inflation? Is that the focus that we should have right now? (I know that’s likely not your concern, but) If people are concerned about being able to afford things, whether someone says that they’re struggling because of high costs or high prices, focused on the wrong thing.
