The galaxy brain chain doesn't end there. The next step is realizing that the line "news is propaganda" is itself propaganda to make social media dwellers think they're safe because social media is not "news", and absorb social media propaganda more uncritically. https://x.com/ModernDadSG/status/1803553694723756431

the next step after that is realizing that social media propoganda is propagated by an entirely different segment of interests from politics (ad hungry platforms) that intentionally show you polarizing things to keep you scrolling so you can see more McDonald’s ads. At this point, you either join farcaster or become a hermit.

Ultimately it really depends on algorithms & last generation social media co.s didn’t take into consideration that an algorithm that’s good for the company’s profit, may not be good for human beings collectively. Lost public good

A very valid point It's important to be critical of all information we consume, whether it's social media, traditional news, or even things like the "news is propaganda" message itself.

This meme is about cable news. What about the papers? There is this halo of credibility around the papers which makes their biases even more sinister. WaPo with its smug slogan “democracy dies in darkness”. When I was interested in geopolitics, I read WaPO and NYT but also Nikkei and Straits Times for balance.
