I've been finding quality of posts and discourse on Farcaster consistently high recently. My impression is that it got spammy around 6 months ago, but since then has quietly improved a lotl

Shout out merkle - spam is still here (just like email) but they’re finding ways to hide it. don’t look under the hood at the raw protocol data 🫣

Absolutely true. Still feels a bit narrow in terms of topics with a conversational depth, but really great for certain things. And that list is slowly but steadily growing.

I notice waves of bots, but they get dealt with rather rapidly. The meta discourse here has been fascinating, and the rapid development that's been recently spurred is particularly cool. I think some of it is related to Moxie - it increased farmers and spammers, yes, but it's also spurring actual dedicated users to deeper engagement as they seek to find other dedicated users through the noise.

And did it before X found a way to solve their bot issues, apparently they want notifications and engagement to be botted

feature not a bug; in that focusing on ‘make it easy to build apps on the FC protocol’ diverted spam traffic to those apps; WC is now sparkly clean

Interesting you mention that. Considering we're at an ath of engagement farmers caused by Moxie (winder if you've heard of it). Tons of big accounts keep complaining about increased spam, nice to see you saying otherwise 🤔

It comes and goes seasonally, I come across a lot of ChatGPT or low effort responses. But you have to pay attention to the signs of people who are making an effort to generate quality content from the start...

I believe we should have more control over curating our content. Currently, we're at the mercy of algorithms that decide what we see. These algorithms are often optimized to maximize content consumption because that’s the metric they prioritize, even though our rational goal might be to spend less time consuming content. It’s crucial that we push for more user agency in content curation to better align with our personal and collective well-being
