Since working at Augur in 2017 I've been talking my wife's ear off about decentralization, crypto philosophy etc. This is one of the only pieces I've actually sent her to read. Her PhD deals with how narrative is real in that it impacts the world. I wonder what she'll think of the version of the future you hint at.

Including all the different philosophies and how they can fit into d/acc is pretty neat.

“And so it is my firm belief that, out of all the things that we have known and seen in our universe, we, humans, are the brightest star. We are the one thing that we know about that, even if imperfectly, sometimes make an earnest effort to care about "the good", and adjust our behavior to better serve it.” ^Yes

Re: our place in a superintelligent AI world, you have an unique perspective in that you are one of the rare few individuals with outsized impact on the world. At society scale most of us are functionally pets as is, whether the overlord is human or AI. Ego aside, AI might make a better ruler.

Wondering how possible this merge could be in the next 20 years so a close-to-consensus AGI timeline. I imagine that - before we optimize our brains which might take a while - our brains connected to AI might behave like an old car that got a 1,000+ HP engine. In other words, not be able to keep up with its output.

This quote is an interesting part because we already do that by playing chess. Machines can beat humans since Deep Blue beat Kasparov in 1997, and yet we are still more excited about Magnus Carlsen games than the competitions between the latest AI chess model.

thank you for exploring the nuance of this. I'd like for this to be the norm for information technology. after all, maybe the most reasonable approach to smart contract/ DAO development is one that allows its trajectory of adoption to be moderated by the ample probability of catastrophic flaws & vectors of capture.

I must say, your water-balancing skills are truly exceptional. "Everyone, stop arguing and fighting, come and take a look at d/acc." You are attempting to achieve a "trusted neutrality" on a global human level.
