You cannot be slashed for going offline. Regular offline penalties are tiny (eg. 1% downtime -> earn 3.43% instead of 3.5%)

You may be inactivity leaked if you're offline for multiple days at the same time as >1/3 of the entire network, but if that ever happens you'll hear about it everywhere on twitter/FC on day 1

I would love to run a solo staker validator, but it's too expensive for some of us... even @rocketpool  minipools (4eth)
Eg: I run a few validators on gnosis and its very cheap.

Technical hurdle

Even with the ‘easy’ solutions out there, the ongoing worry of misconfiguring something or failing to update and getting slashed is a heavy burden. 

My nightmare is doing something wrong or missing an update and losing the 32 eth

32 ETH is the equivalent of MYR 360,000+, where a cup of Starbucks espresso is MYR 9. Decentralization is not globally affordable.

Tax. The U.S. Internal Revenue Service treats staking rewards as current ordinary income whereas rETH appears to enable deferred long term capital gains.

Would be cool to be able to stake and run our own node with how ever much eth we have and help support the network at a mass scale could be possible with facet and ethscriptions kinda curious on your thoughts on these 2 subjects.

Mine is primarily fear of Proof of Poof… I have enough to run a few nodes but I fear messing up or getting hacked. This my precious eth remains locked behind a gates hardware wallet. 

What would you say to someone like me to encourage running a node?
