OK tweets like this are making me quite worried that people are opportunistically using this situation to push some kind of anti-weirdness / anti-nerd backlash. I really hope we can be better than that. https://twitter.com/vkhosla/status/1726705550380155253

Emotions are high and there might be a few tweets here and there that are knee jerk. As situation resolves it’ll calm down. Wouldn’t put too much weight into anything that isn’t direct updates. Ok, back to monitoring 🫡

Khosla has had a history of unseemly tweeting for someone of his stature in recent years. I’d rate him at 0.8 Talebs. That whole generation has become kinda cranky about the gradual fading of their values etc.

agree. i'm disheartened with how people are reacting emotionally in a way that discourages something that's higher level than being weird or nerdy: truth-seeking behavior. asking earnest questions, grappling w research, and sharing POVs is an underlying principle of venture so i'm disappointed to see this from khosla.

They absolutely are. In this case collateral damage in a factional war. I think this piece was considered a dud by everyone because it’s pretty obvious his claims are theorising. Worst case cringe.

One of the biggest things I learned from being in crypto is that everyone has a bag. Vinod is a story teller and he’s talking his book because he’s the first VC in OpenAI. Filter everything he says the same way you filter some random altcoin holder.

Vinod is sad that his 80B company shed 80-90% of it's valuation.

I don't think so, it seems like patience has been lost and people are looking for fewer surprises. also bloomberg can't survive w/o controversy, in this case the possible bias & pending missteps of an interim CEO concerning pretty grave tech, as some of us "nerds" describe it.

Both tweets seem fairly mild. People are just digging for controversy.

Monumental landscape shifts will always give rise to antagonistic actors; if it wasn’t this, it’d have been something else. 🤷‍♂️ “Unfiltered” as a pejorative in this context is very weird, IMO.
