Farcaster should have (near-)unlimited length messages like twitter. Having used it for a while, I feel like twitter's long message feature improves its user experience and its usefulness for high quality discussion.

This is the first request I made to @dwr.eth after joining Farcaster. It's amazing people believe 280 characters enables high-signal conversations where there's a lot of nuance and subtle ideas. I guess it boils down to personal standards for writing--my standards can be painfully high in many cases.

Honestly, I miss the days when everyone was limited to just 140 characters on Twitter.

We've asked readers if they like long tweets from a UX standpoint and most people prefer to read a longer post in a browser / link vs. in feed.

I prefer threads but everyone seems to hate those now. Long casts would be better than screenshot essays at least. Substack has long notes and it’s a bit tedious. Twitter is just ranty mostly. Threads interrupt ranting fugues a bit and make them bearable.

I think we would need a form of "multidimensional storage pricing" to introduce this.

Maybe something for power badger holders, as opposed to Twitter's paywall? So users who have proven themselves as dedicated farcaster users can leverage this feature.

I've being saying this since I first used farcaster, not unlimited but 5k chars should be ok for majority of users and prevent abuse. Limited chars is a thing of the past with very few actual benefits for users.

larger message length likely has implications for hub decentralization <> performance tradeoffs are we maybe looking at hub L2? cc @bpetes.eth

Disagree. Being succinct is a skill, especially in today's attention economy. If you need more than 140 characters, write it on @paragraph Feel strongly about this. I /hate/ threads or any other methods of circumventing this. I ain't readin' all that.
