The world of cats
@viscas
Cats, like dogs, belong to the same group of mammals. The main diet of wild relatives of both species was mainly meat. Recent DNA studies confirm that dogs in their evolution have developed more copies of the so-called amylase gene. It is this gene that is responsible for the enzyme that ensures the production of starch. The presence of a significant number of copies of this gene allowed dogs to be more omnivorous. The feline family has lost genes encoding several key enzymes that produce vitamin A, prostaglandins and taurine. But dogs and humans still have the ability to synthesize such substances from plant-based precursors. However, cats should get them from meat. To add other foods to their diet, cats need to add such additional features that it is preferable to synthesize useful nutrients from plant foods. This ability has not been shown in felines for 10 million years of civilization. Doubtful,
