Question for crypto buyers!

I’m helping some family members buy BTC. I haven’t personally purchased crypto in a long time but decided to go with Coinbase. Honestly, it’s been a complete nightmare -_- (tldr; SEPA difficulties, coin transfer restricted until end of February, etc).

So, what alternatives do you recommend for buying a few thousand euros' worth each month through SEPA? (And, of course, being able to transfer them to a cold wallet.). Ledger app?

I guess there are some Coinbase folks around here. I can elaborate on my experience if it helps, but honestly, even as a SWE, the Coinbase experience and support have been very opaque and frustrating. Probably related to high usage/traffic atm, but still.
