On a recent flight, it struck me how enduring the relic of the no-smoking sign on flights is. Despite smoking being almost completely banned on most international/domestic flights globally for over two decades, the prominent lit up signage remains on so many flights next to the seatbelt sign as a safety measure (+ legacy holdover on older aircraft).

Surely smoking on passenger aircrafts (except perhaps private jets) is banned completely everywhere?
