These days are long. I’m a medical student, third year, on my last rotation: surgery. I’m typically here from 5 AM to 5 PM (if not a longer day). I respect more and more what surgeons do every day. However, it’s sometimes hard to stomach some of the worst symptoms of a broken medical training system.

I typically have to do this in under 60 to 90 seconds. Any presentation over this time frame is typically too long for the residents to continue listening. (Most of the time, one junior resident will continue to listen to you to give formative feedback). This begs the question…
