Audiophiles: how is the market for quality sound systems doing? Do people still buy living room amp/speaker systems and attach to TVs? Feels like everyone just gives up and uses headphones or simple built-in speakers on TVs/computers/phones these days. And afaik speaker tech hasn’t gotten much smaller physically.

i have a sonos 5.1 setup and it’s really really good after tuning but wouldn’t call it audiophile. sound stage is not as wide as proper home cinema hardware. i think high-end sony and yamaha systems that support Dolby Atmos might be better

The Vizio 5.1 systems are remarkably good for their price point: https://www.rtings.com/soundbar/reviews/vizio/m-series-m51a-h6

Not an audiophile but I have the Bose TV Speaker hooked up to my TV. Pretty good no frills option - https://www.bose.com/en_us/products/speakers/home_theater/bose-tv-speaker.html#v=bose_tv_speaker_black
