How do you answer the question  “Where are you from?” 

As an immigrant who lived in a few countries I find it quite confusing. 

I assume that the person wants to quickly understand my language/cultural background, so go with “I’m originally from …, lived in A, B, C and now I live in X.”

If you’ve encountered this lazy question enough times you don’t mind being annoying.

This is the most annoying answer someone can give.

“Let them do the work” as if the less work you do and the more work they do, means you’re winning or something?

“Where are you from” gives them the power on how to answer
