"Thinking decentralized" is a real skill. Economics is the first and so far only discipline that has mastered a narrow version of it. Computer science is starting to get close (both AI and non-AI versions). Neuroscience (rogue neuron theories) only started getting there very recently.

Distributed is a superset of decentralized along both feature vector and agency scales. Decentralized I think is a kind of degenerate lower-dimensional subspace of distributed design space.

Laziness and reluctance to either lead or follow seems to be a good starting posture. Forces you to learn decentralization out of sheer necessity.
