Despite the “journey” in “hero’s journey” a classic story is a round trip and can therefore fit into a sufficiently large “house” (or le guin carrier bag). Essays by contrast don’t circle back to starting point. They’re one way trips. Dangerous in a dark forest.

Then it serves that writing essays right now is buying the zeitgeist dip. 😅

This is why writing a book feels like the only alive thing to me now.
