Air pollution is a way bigger killer than radiation. It also makes us dumber. A sane society would be building nuclear power plants. https://patrickcollison.com/pollution

I the context of the last few years I don’t think air pollution is the main contributor impacting us citizens IQ 😂. You have your opinion, I have mine. Everyone can do what ever he likes including building nuclear power.

You can see the increase as a result of trading nuclear for coal. Also there are now accounting gimmicks where you are buying French nuclear power when the intermittent renewables are intermittent. https://www.bloomberg.com/news/articles/2024-11-29/germany-turns-to-french-nuclear-power-as-wind-generation-falls

Yeah we are not done! This takes time, like e.g. building a decentralized social network :). I think we imported net 2% of all power, probably from France. Give us another 50 years and we will see. I didn’t know we halved our pollution output until now! We are integrated into a European power net, we will always trade power on the public market independent of its origin. If countries decide to go full nuclear selling cheap power without pricing in the final storage costs of fissure materials for centuries, every other energy source will lose and be more expensive. Usually something goes wrong and the company just files insolvency. The costs for final storage is payed by tax money in the end. Most companies do not exist for more than 100 years.

Holy f^%#, it takes 703.800.000 years until uranium 235 is not deadly anymore! Really I did not know this. That’s like close to a billion years ffs, our sun burns out in 2-3bn years!
