It’s simple, people usually focus on the ZK part too much. Users don’t care. As Dan says, stated vs revealed. What we should focus on are the new products verifiable compute can enable. Painkillers and not vitamins

We’re early and the main drivers are just coming to bear (AI, censorship, toxic/captured media – zk is our check) yes yes you can do all this with PKI & TEEs, but in an era of geopolitical instability who wants to trust that? WRT to PII and compliance regimes it’s a capital intensive slog it will happen though.

1 its just early. Talk vs walk. 2 effectively its a good old 2-side market hence a bit hard to start the flywheel, yet its coming 3 Both selective disclosure and zero disclosure are required for practical purposes. Balance is tricky. 4 Everyone is focused on a Semaphore/group model vs credentials (failed in the past).

I think the answer is probably because most of the engineering effort are made at the protocol level at this point. The other issue is capital, the majority of investment are made in infrastructure and this might be the case until ZK-based protocol have mature tech

it’s challenging to think like a circuit developer vs an application developer. zkvms seem to be changing this though

the more normal a crypto as payment becomes, the more zk is a necessity! my feeling is the next crypto boom happens in the trades and services industries. once that phase hits, zk will fully take over
