5. Willie Pep
Guillermo Papaleo, better known as Willie Pep, was a two-time world featherweight champion, known as an unrivaled defensive genius. There is even a joke about Pep once winning a round without throwing a single punch, which speaks to how difficult it was for opponents to hit him.

In 1947, Pep was seriously injured in a plane crash, but six months later he returned to the ring and continued to win.

Pep's first winning streak in the ring consisted of 63 fights, and then after his first defeat, he won 72 more victories before losing to another outstanding boxer, Sandy Saddler. Saddler was perhaps Pep's only worthy opponent, winning three out of four fights.

Looking at Pep's track record, it is worth noting that back then, boxers entered the ring much more often, even as world champions, and not all of their fights were title fights.
