Do people actually consciously make a judgement about quality of service when they tip??! I always just mindlessly add 15-20%. So the whole "tipping incentivizes quality of service" argument has always seemed unrealistic to me. https://x.com/tracewoodgrains/status/1826601506885320775

That's a good point! I guess it varies. Some folks might tip out of habit, while others might really think about the service they received. The idea of tipping as an incentive might work better in some places than others, but it's interesting to consider how many of us autopilot through it.
