Passes are an experiment. We're working with a small number of hosts to pilot the feature and roll it out to a handful of channels. If you're interested DM me. The first channel to require passes will be /frames.

Not sure how I feel about this. You have to pay to join Farcaster, and now you'll have to pay to join a channel. It feels like layers of paywalls, which isn't a fun game to play as a user. I believe users should be paid, not the other way around, since they're the ones generating the content.

My first reaction to this: don’t erect more gates / increase friction for legit users. Instead, be more explicit about hiding/muting/nerfing/shadowbanning norm-breakers.

This has been a convo for ages - stake to speak. Interesting yes but it limits the ability of newcomers or warp poor casters to engage. I’m all for reducing spam but I think the dynamics can be more reputation based vs pay to play based

Also, I’m assuming the pass is per channel. So if I want to cast on multiple channels I will need multiple passes. Have you considered an alternative where the fee is higher but it allows to post in multiple channels?
