@vgr also, what’s the economic incentive for the hubs to be geo distributed? Current model favors app developers so most likely majority of the hubs will be collocated in aws?

You can be geo distributed on AWS I assume you mean how do you ensure everyone doesn’t end up on the same cloud vendor?

Yup. Right now, let’s assume a bunch are plotting to overthrow the govt. and if legally requested aws/vendor will arbitrarily shut all FC hubs.If you consider BTC mining the economic incentive of low cost power drove miners to many diff geo loc. I don't think the geo distribution of BTC is driven by average national electricity costs alone. USA is about 60th or 70th percentile, yet has ~ 33% of the hash rate today https://www.globalpetrolprices.com/electricity_prices/

Yup, reliability of the power & regime favors are also some of the other factors linked to the economic incentive. Good stuff.
