Popular channels get a lot of spam and manual moderation is hard to scale and decentralize. Proposal: - Hosts can turn on a fee in settings - Users must pay 100 warps before they can post - If banned, user must pay the fee again before posting - Fees go to hosts If you are a channel lead, would you use this?

it's an interesting option! but maybe also give channel hosts some additional options if they don't want all/nothing on it being fee-gated? e.g. maybe allow-list gated with various FC/onchain criteria as options?

another option also could be to have users "stake" the warps rather than pay them if they are good actors for say 30 days they get it back

maybe have it optional? up to hosts decisions I think it def makes sense for huge channels and doesn't for small/growing ones.

i haven't encountered much spam in /vip bc it's a small/medium sized niche channel where everyone is well behaved ^-^ the current tool set is working for me so i wouldn't turn this on could be interesting an experiment for high spam channels ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ tho i would worry the spam would just migrate to other places

No I would not use it without other options - not a default options for all channels - host can decide the gate they want (wraps, activity, NFTs) 2 - if banned, fee goes up and not able to post for 24 hours

Yes. In addition to: Make user agree to norms before posting the first time.

Would definitely help cut down on the spam I have seen in /frames since our content moderation tirade began. But gating posting in channels directly disincentivizes discovery. Perhaps there's a medium - charge warps to get back in once banned; cost to get back in scales up by 50 for each ban on the same user?

I would use to re-enable to cast those accounts who were previously banned. Too expensive for everyone to cast. Leave it free initially but pay after a ban.

I think low entry (10 warp to cast the first time) but high reentry (200 warp to cast after getting banned). Also if I were the channel host I would use the warps received from moderating to tip q/daus. Worth a shot.

We're building this: https://derekbrown.xyz/decentralizing-moderation (for reference, we're roughly the size of FC and our "channels" are largely not owned by admins, so we have to figure something out) Happy to chat through our ideas at any point, Varun - DCs open.

If fees could be easily recycled and given back to channel for quality posts, yes (i.e., a channel wallet v host wallet). Pure pay-to-play disincentives both spam (a good thing) and more conversational dialogue (not a good thing).

Not for /six because we don't get much spam but I am supportive in general, would be good for larger channels
