Popular channels get a lot of spam and manual moderation is hard to scale and decentralize. Proposal: - Hosts can turn on a fee in settings - Users must pay 100 warps before they can post - If banned, user must pay the fee again before posting - Fees go to hosts If you are a channel lead, would you use this?

Let them token gate with any. Warps are centralized and cannot be a long term solution imo

maybe have it optional? up to hosts decisions I think it def makes sense for huge channels and doesn't for small/growing ones.

i dont get spam but it's a cool idea actually i might use it just for fun to see how much value im providing in the channel and get real user feedback bonus feature where you can send fees to a target address like purple treasury would be sick. or maybe @nonlinear.eth could hook it up to a @fabric hypersub somehow

From my POV definitely not - most channels rely on users bringing their know-how to the community, making them pay for this feels off to me, esp. if the fee would go to the host (even though that would make sense in some other context).

i haven't encountered much spam in /vip bc it's a small/medium sized niche channel where everyone is well behaved ^-^ the current tool set is working for me so i wouldn't turn this on could be interesting an experiment for high spam channels ยฏ\_(ใƒ„)_/ยฏ tho i would worry the spam would just migrate to other places

it's an interesting option! but maybe also give channel hosts some additional options if they don't want all/nothing on it being fee-gated? e.g. maybe allow-list gated with various FC/onchain criteria as options?

another option also could be to have users "stake" the warps rather than pay them if they are good actors for say 30 days they get it back

Why not stake instead of pay? Then you can use normal burning mechanisms.

Not for /six because we don't get much spam but I am supportive in general, would be good for larger channels

Consider these to prevent impacting engagement 1. What about not force users to pay upfront but rather make them pay only if they break. 2. There could be a setting that prevents newly created users from casting more than X times depending on the time they've existed in FC that way we prevent bots.

Would definitely help cut down on the spam I have seen in /frames since our content moderation tirade began. But gating posting in channels directly disincentivizes discovery. Perhaps there's a medium - charge warps to get back in once banned; cost to get back in scales up by 50 for each ban on the same user?
