Would you pay for a "pro" storage unit that gave you: - longer casts (10k chars) - upto 4 images or embeds per cast - profile upgrades (link other socials, banner image etc) For creators, this would help level up their content and profiles. Assume it costs around $10/mo and revenue goes to weekly rewards.

Why charge for this? Storage units are getting very inexpensive. The goal is to get them close to 5c so people can get started easily with Farcaster. It's going to be very cheap to buy a unit to get 200 casts stored on the network. Features like long casts and multi embeds increase the amount of data in each cast by more than 10x. It's not feasible to have 5c storage units with these features, since the network would get flooded. The goal of a pro unit is to get people in as easily as possible and then provide ways for people who want more features to upgrade. The secondary goal is to support creators by using any revenue earned from this to increase creator rewards.

I desperately *desperately* want to post more than 2 images but a $120/year price tag on that seems difficult to justify (especially to new users) if clients are paying for their own media upload/hosting and that’s the cost burden, it’d make more sense to keep the protocol embed slots fully open and let clients charge on their front end

Nope. - Image experience on Warpcast is subpar compared to an app like Threads - People don’t care about those kinds of upgrades, just “verification” which seems like a non issue in Farcaster

sounds good for photographers personally curious if multi photo casts are deprioritized by the algo - right or wrong i’ve mostly stayed away from them bc i thought i remembered them being knocked down i know a few photographers post 4 photos in grid as a workaround - @jeffmihaly is one that comes to mind

I don't like the idea of a tiered system. It's too much like what Twitter is doing.

No. Storage has always been a weird thing to pay for in general. Should be a client responsibility and the client then decides how to monetize and make their app profitable.

Yes, but I think the $10/month is too steep, compared to the current pricing. Is it actually cost-related, or just price discovery?

I would keep it in the single digit range (like telegram) to make it a complete no brainer not only for those you actually want the feature... but also for those who want to support you, those who want the status etc.

You mean the protocol charges $10/mo? How would that revenue go to weekly rewards if there are multiple clients? If this isn’t at the protocol, how will other clients display this information?

These are some basic features which most of the people who use media are looking for except now these take storage on chain and hence I believe is the cost. Tbh if you compare it to Mid journey or chatgpt for a cost of this level it definitely feels expensive for a month and it's not necessary that most people are making it to the leaderboard and earning rewards or getting fair distribution or visibility. If it has to do something then it has to balance cost + visibility without having to subjectively put it on the users that you need to post interesting content or get seen by people who could boost you. We can start of an experimental with levels of $3 a month possibly considering currencies vary across countries + add ways to which new users don't drop down after initial engagement + regular users get better engagement. It would be a better position to then expect a $5+ monthly cost. Lot of them who said yes can easily afford it but I don't want to assume that. My 2c.
